Ports and connectivity come via 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 Thunderbolt ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 audio in/out port plus 1 SDXC card slot. Most sadly, these "Retina" models are virtually sealed and not upgradable in any way. Similar to the Air models, Apple has phased out any internal optical drive. macOS Monterey will support the broadest lineup of Macs in history, including the latest iMac, MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, as well as Apples Intel-based Macs. From what I found on the network, the only option is the AMD card. It also has a backlit keyboard, a Force Touch trackpad along with a claimed 9 hour battery. It will be installed in the HP Gen8 server with Macianabox.

This 4.5 lb (2.02 kg) model is housed in an extra lean aluminum case, featuring a 2x1800 15" "retina" high-res LED widescreen display and a 720p FaceTime HD webcam. That got me the white screen and high fan noise. The (Mid 2015) MacBook Pro Intergrated Graphics "Core i7" 2.2GHz 15" Retina Display is powered by a 22 nm Haswell/Crystalwell 2.2GHz Intel "Core i7" 4770HQ processor running "four cores" with a 6MB level 3 cache, 16GB of (non-upgradeable) onboard DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) SDRAM 256 GB Solid State PCIe flash drive with integrated Intel Iris 5200 Pro graphics processor with 128 MB of "Crystalwell" DRAM (plus shared system memory). The more affordable MacBook Pro has a base 256 GB of storage (the pricier one comes with 512 GB) and slightly weaker graphics-card performance (Intels Iris Plus Graphics 645 versus Iris Plus. If your MBP doesn't get to white screen before shutting down while attempting to boot, hold down the option key and boot into recovery disk.
Previously I had tried GFXbench to test it, and it went straight back to no vertical lines at boot.
It got heated up a bit but no GPU issue so far. I even plugged it into a cinema display and played HD on youtube. I then I let it cool down completely, (in fact I put it outside on the balcony.) I left it for about half an hour then switched it off by holding down the power button. If you boot and get vertical stripes > apple logo > white grey screen, let it run hot as the fans kick in block the keyboard from venting airflow or wrap the mbp closed in a blanket. I followed these steps and got a workable fix: Saw all the online action, the lawsuits etc… Hopefully apple will do a recall as it was bought by me for graphic intense tasks like video editing. I had similar non bootable problem with a MBP 17 inch (early 2011). gfxCardStatus (integrated only mode) is better in this respect so I use both and now I can say that the machine is very stable and reliable after all. Apple MacBook Pro 13 space grey (2017) Intel processor: i5, 3.50 GHz Screen size:13.3 retina display (resolution 25601600) Memory: 8GB of DDR3 ram. The new MacBook Pros - the 1,299 13-inch, 1,799 13-inch with Touch Bar, and 2,399 15-inch with Touch Bar - have those new chips, too, along with upgraded graphics hardware. After about a week of gpu-switch testing, however, I have to conclude that this solution has its drawbacks too: it works fine after shutdown (including abnormal or forced one), sleep, hibernation, but it does not prevent mbp from switching to dgpu on running graphic demanding apps such as googlemaps in browser. This saved me from frequent overheat shutdowns under blanket just to load the os (after overheat shutdown the system forcibly uses igpu but this state changes back after couple of boots so it becomes necessary to overheat again).

The application runs from terminal, reportedly uses the same code as gfxCardStatus but writes the setting into NVRAM(PRAM) so machine remains switched to internal GPU on next boot(s)/wake(s). MacBook Pro (Retina, 16-inch, 2019) with Radeon Pro 5300M, 5500M and 5600M MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, 2015-Present) iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch. Please note that only source code is there so Xcode is requred to compile the binary.

It seems that I have found more reliable or permanent software solution allowing to permanently disable discrete GPU and use mbp (mine is Mbp 8.3 17i early 2011) with broken discrete GPU (failing to boot) than gfxCardStatus 1.8-2.2.1, namely.
